Inspection Process

During housing inspections every room in the house is inspected. (During kitchen inspections only the kitchen and nearest bathroom are inspected.)  If anything is found not to meet code the house will be given a period of time in which to make any necessary corrections. The inspector will then come back to see if all the corrections have been made. If the items have not been repaired another correction period will then be granted. If still the corrections have not been made the ICC will then hire outside contractors to perform the work at the house's expense. If a house fails too many inspections the city can shut down a house (or the use of its kitchen) until they deem it is up to code.
