House Officer Information
Each house is democratically run by the members is supported by a group of folks called House Officers. Officers embody the ethic of stewardship in our homes. Members look to House Officers as role models for house culture and as leaders they can trust.
These specialized positions (below) are required in every house and come with complete training and lots of support, so please be encouraged to try it out! Regardless of how much experience you have with the ICC, anyone can be a House Officer!

Elections
Fall/Winter
House President and Board Representative are elected at the end of the Winter term for the upcoming Fall/Winter terms. This must happen at the Fall room picks meeting.
All other House Officers are elected at the first house meeting of Fall and Winter terms.
Spring/Summer
All Spring/Summer House Officers including House President and Board Representative) are elected at the first house meeting of Spring/Summer term.
Turnover
House Presidents must complete the Leadership Turnover Form after each election.

Responsibilities
- Represent the house and coordinates house business
- Build community in the house
- Coordinate with House Officers to set goals and objectives
- Set and post agendas for house meetings
- Facilitate house meetings
- Coordinate with Housing office
- Mediate house conflicts
- Provide tours for prospective members
- Welcome new members and provide an orientation/tour

Responsibilities
- Attend Board and committee meetings
- Act as a liaison between the Board and house and communicate between ICC central and house members
- Keep informed of issues to be discussed and the condition of the co-op
- Report to the house and consult with members on issues
- Perform tasks assigned by committees
- Ensure that decisions of the board are carried out in your house
- Educate house members on your co-op and on co-ops in general
- Encourage leadership
- Enact decisions to ensure the financial health of the co-op
- Direct and evaluate management
- Ensure that houses are run according to the principles and decisions of the organization
- Ensure that the co-op is operating in accordance with all legally binding regulations

- Order food in bulk from online sources/through Student Buyers Association
- Buy food in-person from places like Costco, Meijer, etc.
- Keep consumable goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, medicine, etc. in stock
- Take frequent inventory of food stock
- Regularly check and fulfill food requests
- Survey house at the beginning of the term to figure out dietary/food preferences
- Manage budget to make sure purchases stay within monthly and term budgets
- Communicate to house what is being purchased
- Work with Treasurer on status of the budget

- Assign work hours during the interim period
- Fine members who left their rooms in substandard condition or moved out without completing their work hours
- Assume or delegate all Officer tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure that all rooms are up to the standard set in SR 12.4 (Room Condition)
- Walk through house inspection with IAC
- If the house does not pass inspection, ensure that necessary changes are made to rectify the problem(s)
- Assist with move in/move out
- Greet incoming members
- Distribute the necessary information and respond to requests and questions from new and current members about the move out and move in processes
- Inventory all furniture and report any needed items to maintenance
